Expansion in New Germany
Nov 02, 2020

Safety and quality service is at the forefront of every decision we make at UFC. With this in mind, I am excited to provide you with an update from the energy department.
First, although the hardware store is closed in Waconia, the energy team continues to operate as normal from the office. If you have any questions or need service they can be reached at 952-442-2126.
As you all are aware, we have had plans to build a new energy facility that will allow us to continue to serve the Waconia area after the sale of the current location. The benefits of this project are two fold; a new facility will allow us to operate more efficiently which translates into better service for our customers and less downtime. Simultaneously, the new building is in the best interest of safety for the Waconia community. By moving our location further away from businesses and homes, there is less risk to the community if an emergency situation should arise.
Over the last several months, we have completed an extensive marketplace study with the objective to find the safest and most efficient location that will best serve our current customers that also provides opportunity for growth well into the future. I am pleased to share with you that our plan has turned into action as we have identified a location for the new energy facility in New Germany on Highway 7. With the location identified, our main focus has been on gathering and executing all legal and regulatory details needed to secure the property and to move two, thirty thousand propane storage tanks from Waconia to the new location.
This process has been slow moving, but for good reason. We have worked closely with Carver County to look at the “big picture” and make sure we are making the right decision not only for UFC, but also for the growth of Waconia over the next twenty years. The new facility will be located next to UFC’s current bulk fuel plant making the new land a convenient, safe and efficient location to serve our customers going forward.
We expect to have all of the permits and legal requirements in place by the end of this fall, at which point we will have the opportunity to finalize the purchase. Mother Nature willing, we hope to start dirt work yet this month! The location will feature a forty by eighty shop and office building, and in June of 2021 we plan to relocate our two, thirty thousand gallon propane tanks. Our same staff will relocate to the new location upon completion and continue to serve you. The pandemic has taught us the importance of leveraging technology to safely and efficiently serve our customers’ needs. By updating our office and our technology, we will have the capability to serve you regardless of our trucks’ locations.
Thank you for your continued support and patronage. If you have any questions or need to schedule service, please contact us at 952-442-2126.
