Natural Gas Prices Surge
Throughout the past few weeks, temperatures throughout United Natural Gas, LLC’s territory have been consistently been below zero. Consequently, natural gas prices are surging to unprecedented highs. With the temperatures dropping in North Dakota, down to Texas and every state in-between, natural gas customers are turning up the heat in their homes which is increasing demand. At the same time, extreme cold temperatures are reaching deep into the south where wellheads are located which is having a negative impact on supply.

We are sharing this information with you as a caution and to encourage you to conserve your natural gas consumption as best you can. Reducing the amount of gas you use will help minimize the impact on your utility bill for the duration of the price increase. While there are no guarantees, current market conditions indicate prices will return to normal soon.

With our extended weather forecast showing below normal temperatures across much of UFC’s territory we know growers may not be waiting for “ideal” planting conditions. We suggest utilizing 6-24-6 starter fertilizer to help corn and soybeans deal with cooler planting temperatures.
